Sunday

So...

After skimming through a few art books, and not finding anything too interesting, iv decided to make my own 'paintings'. These will be photographs with a few Photoshop filters on them. Now I know that most graphic designers can pick up a PS filter a mile away, so ill be editing the pictures with the paint brush tool to ad in some extra details. Using pictures will make is soooooooooo much easier, I also think it will look much better mainly because I can have different angles on the shots.
Well, I'm excited.

Heres an example of the Photoshoped picture. (click on the image to make it bigger, it looks much better enlarged)

Saturday

Tempting...

A very tempting idea is to not use pre-made paintings, just use my own creations.. It will be a whole lot easier.. and I don't think it will make the video worse, it might actually make it look better. Further testing is needed.

Video!

Here is the storyboard chopped up, and stuck in a video. This gives you a better idea for timing and how it will go with the song.
Enjoy!

Visual Visualization

So here is the Storyboard! Woo! These pictures represent every shot in the video clip. Theres a time on the top left of each image, this shows at what time in the song it starts, and if you have a look at the next one; what time it finishes. There a bunch of arrows in some, I'm hoping they're quite self explanatory. Some refer to the movement of the actors and some are for the camera movements. Overall I'm pretty happy with it, ill be turning it into a video storyboard very soon... and I will post the video up on this blog.
(You can click on the images to make them bigger, and please forgive my terrible handwriting and spelling. I don't expect you to understand the comments.)

Wednesday

Its Story time. (Overview)

So heres a really really rough Storyboard. It doesn't have individual shots, it just focuses on each scene. I don't expect anyone to understand it, as it is really rough.
You can see on the bottom of the first page theres a Time line, a bunch of letters and a graph. The Time line shows key points in the song, the letters refer to the aspect of the song, G for guitar, E for extreme guitar.. :P and L for lyrics. The graph is a representation of the energy that the song is putting out.

An oldy but a goody

So here are some painting that I might just use. They're all by the same dead artist: Ivan Shishkin.
Yes I realize they're all the same style, I'm thinking I might keep it simple and only have slight differences in style, I don't want it to be to confusing to people, they might wonder what the hells going on when an abstract painting comes along.
Each of these pictures I have are obviously past their copyright restriction so I can use them without going to jail.
Also each picture I have on my PC is extremely high resolution so they will be perfect to use.
Remember these are not the final paintings, I know I definitely need one with a big crowd of people in it, so I will continue searching.
Enjoy.

Friday

Next Please...

As you can see the previous post is taken from Assignment 2...
So I have set up my Project Plan.. and ill keep to all the deadlines.
Next task: get hold of all the paintings needed.

And the winner is! Hysteria by Muse

The idea for the video falls in the Fantasy genre. The story of this fantasy music video clip is: A young man is walking through the city streets, he then sees this girl who he immediately falls in love with. She then notices him and starts to walk away from him, trying to escape his glare. She can’t rid of him so she literally climbs into a nearby piece of artwork hung up on a wall. As the man wonders where she has gone, he sees the painting, and sees her inside the painting itself. He climbs in too to try and follow her. Inside the new world everything looks slightly different to the real world; it is in the style of the original artwork.
He chases down the girl but she climbs into another painting, entering another
world. This process continues throughout the video, as the man continues to try and
speak to the girl, who seems reluctant, this is driving the man crazy.
She eventually climbs back into a painting, which takes her back to the real world.
The video ends with the man finding her and begins to talk to her in the real world;
he has finally got to her.

Hystory lesson

So that was the old plot idea in the previous post. The reason why its the old one is because I've been searching for a good song to use. Iv found a few good ones, but the one that I'm most excited about is a song by Muse called Hysteria. This song could go with the old idea but a slight plot change will make it fit better.
Now this new idea is nothing dramatically different. Its just, instead of searching for his 'home', hes searching for the woman he loves.

Next post will give a full plot description taken from Assignment 2.

A Plot thats 'Hystory'

Extract taken from Assignment 1

  • The theme of the video is “Being Lost” and searching for a sense of “belonging”, looking for a “home”.
  • Current Ideas for songs include : “Coldplay – Lost”, and “Muse – Time is Running Out”.
  • A man, searching for something.
  • Climbs into a painting that’s hanging on a wall. Now inside the painting world itself, he starts searching.
  • Goes from painting to painting searching for his home.
  • Each painting has a different location and style.
  • Finally after many tries he finds what he was looking for, his home.

(i do know how to spell "History" correctly... more will be revealed.)

Thursday

And so the Hysteria begins...

So for this assignment the objective is to create a sweet ass Music Video Clip.
I want this video to be of an extremely high standard, and high as in... to be able to be shown on a music video show like Rage, and get away with it. I am aiming for a 7 for this course, so a lot of hard work and time will have to go into this assignment.
As of now there will be no mucking around, scouts honour.
